The Preservation Compact: Halting the Loss of Affordable Rental Housing

Cook County has a larger housing stock of rental housing than any other area in the country, yet it is losing two units for every one built due to condo conversion, demolition, neglect and high energy costs.

The Preservation Compact was set up to create a strategy for stemming affordable rental housing losses and a broad based leadership that could implement it.

Because of its deep experience in housing issues, Valerie Denney Communications provided “soup-to-nuts” communications support for this project: strategy and internal communications during an intensive process to develop solutions; writing, editing and production of the group’s final report; creative for an organizational identity; a public campaign launch event, which attracted 250 leaders in the affordable housing field; media outreach and collateral materials.
